Prior to becoming Apollo, Emery received a gentleman's education which included training with swords and basic ether usage. He also has a fair amount of agricultural knowledge from growing up in Eiglun, although his knowledge is more theoretical than practical.

As Apollo, his powers can be divided into roughly four categories:
Light and Illusion
Emery can create visual illusions of varying complexity, and create magical light sources.
Fire and Heat
Emery can create and manipulate flames of varying intensity, and he can protect areas or individuals from igniting. More subtly he can raise the temperature of things, such as by warming a cup of tea.
Divination and Clairvoyance
Emery can "see" events that happen at a distance across space and/or time. Out of all Apollo's abilities, this is the hardest one to control due to requiring detaching from a human perspective.
Healing and Growth Manipulation
As well as being able to close wounds and ease pain, Emery can purify toxins and pathogens, and speed up or slow down the growth rate of living matter.

He also has his own Throne Room, a kind of subdimensional space under his control, which he can enter and exit at any time. He can bring other people there if he chooses to do so, though he rarely does.

As well as all that Emery also starts out with his holy lyre, an artifact through which he can channel magic for greater efficiency. Initially Emery will have no goddamn clue how to play the thing but since it's a magic lyre it can play itself; however, he won't be able to use it effectively until he learns how to play it for himself.

Besides being able to use it for his regular abilities, the lyre also has various potential effects of its own. In order to utilize them, Emery must use the lyre. It is thus vulnerable to being lost or stolen, though it can only be used by another god or by someone with very high ether. Once Emery is strongly bonded to it, it will burn anyone other than him who touches it.

The lyre’s exclusive abilities are:
Alluring Spell
The music that the lyre plays can be used to draw out a target and compel them to follow the source of the music.
Emotion Manipulation
Induces emotions in whoever hears the music depending on the kind of song being played. A sad song will make people sad, an energetic song will pump them up, etc. Can be resisted.
Hypnotic Music
The music puts those who hear it into a dazed, docile, and suggestible state. Can be resisted by those of strong willpower.
Illusory Sounds
The lyre can create any kind of sound that the user wills, not just music. Combines well with the illusion magic to make the visions that Apollo creates seem more believable.

CHARACTER NAME: Emmerich Sommerheim a.k.a. Emery a.k.a. Apollo.
CHARACTER SERIES: Original character.

[OOC]

Backtagging: Yes.
Threadhopping: Ask first.
Fourthwalling: You can tell him about the Apollo from Greek myth/your character's world/whatever. He's an OC so I think that's the only part likely to come up.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): Nothing I really will never touch, just give me a head's up before bringing up taboo things/common triggery points. (It is 99% likely not to upset me I just feel more comfortable if it doesn't come out of nowhere.)

[IC]

Hugging this character: Yes! Odds are high that he'd be happy to hug your character back.
Kissing this character: As above.
Flirting with this character: Emery probably flirted with your character first. Go right ahead.
Fighting with this character: Sure. In terms of actual combat experience Emery is very much an amateur, but as Apollo he has a lot of firepower to back himself up.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Run it by me first if it's something likely to have long term consequences, such as a broken bone.
Killing this character: Probably not, run it by me first.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Check with me first.

Warnings:

Personality
Emery's a character in the "playboy" archetype and as part of that they 1) became sexually active in their early teens, and 2) will flirt with most people, even if they're an inappropriate person to flirt with. (Whether it's because they're much older than Emery, in a relationship, a barista just trying to get through their goddamn day, etc.) They're also pretty blasé about their own past experiences.

Emery is fortunately easy to rebuff, but I am also willing to tone down those elements of their character if requested, or refrain from tagging with them entirely.

Lyre Abilities
Emery's in possession of the lyre of Apollo, which he can use to manipulate the minds of others to a limited degree. Specifically he can:
  • Put characters into a dazed, docile, and suggestible state.

  • Manipulate their emotions by playing songs of the appropriate mood, e.g. a sad song will make them sad, an energetic song will pump them up, etc.

  • Lure targets towards his music.

  • These abilities can be resisted by characters who are deaf, characters who have exceptionally strong willpower, and by characters who have any special supernatural resistance to this kind of magic. OOCly, I'm happy to refrain from letting Emery use these abilities or for them to just Not Work if requested. He's pretty new to this god thing, after all.

    Divination and Clairvoyance
As one of Apollo's lesser known aspects is prophecy and insight, Emery has the ability to "see" events that happen at a distance across space and/or time. This means he can potentially witness events from your character's past or future. This is unlikely to come up and Emery has trouble using this ability, but it is a possibility. If you want to veto this in advance, feel free to let me know.
