fair_troubleName: Emery Dale

Species: Human/Fairy mixture.
Gender: NB/Genderfluid. Primarily uses he/him pronouns out of convenience but any are okay. Gender is a buffet table and Emery is sampling from every dish he can find.
Sexuality: Bisexual
Background: Grew up in a small town as the only child of a troubled marriage. Found out fairly young that he wasn't his father's biological child due to overhearing one of his parents (many) arguments. Had a decent relationship with both his parents individually, however, and was especially close to his mother up until she walked out without a word while he was in high school.
Was fairly popular in school and did well academically, despite a reputation as a flirt and a daydreamer. His father and teachers all had high expectations for him, but Emery himself was restless and felt boxed in by their urging for him to focus on his future and picking a career.
Upon turning eighteen he was approached by a mysterious woman who claimed to work for his biological father. Said woman turned out to be a fairy and revealed that Emery's biological father was a minor fairy lord who'd made a deal with Emery's mother- in return for giving Emery's mother a child, she would go to the fae realm when Emery was sixteen and become one of the fairy lord's slaves.
Only thing was, his mother hadn't gone to the fae realm when Emery turned sixteen, but had vanished entirely. And if she didn't show up soon, Emery's father was considering just taking Emery instead.
Dubious at best about becoming a slave for his deadbeat nonhuman dad, Emery's negotiated that he be allowed to journey around for ten years and search for his mother so she can make good on her contract, and in return he basically has to do whatever earth-side favors his father requests in the meantime. Emery has somewhat mixed feelings about his situation, but it's at least bought him time to see if he can wriggle himself and his mother out of the situation and it beats going to med school like his stepdad wants.

Emery can shapeshift into whatever human form he desires, altering his features, build, skin, eyes, hair colors, age, etc. etc. although he cannot take the form of anything non-human, like a cat or a dragon or whatever. (Though I'm flexible to expanding his abilities depending on the scene, because Emery is first and foremost here for porn purposes.)
He primarily uses this ability for personal and gender expression (i.e. gives himself different genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics depending on his mood) or sneaking into places he's not allowed. He cannot transform his clothes with him, however.
Charm
For basically his entire life, Emery has been unconsciously emitting a low level hypnotic effect that makes people more inclined to find him attractive, charming, likeable, etc. It's relatively mild and generally not something he uses deliberately or cranks up without a good reason, but people meeting him for the first time tend to get hit hardest by it.

Emery's generally pleasant and friendly towards other people, frequently to the point of being flirtatious. Free-spirited and confident, they like to tease people but it's usually all in good spirits, and they tend to like other people in general.
Liking other people isn't necessarily the same as respecting them, however. Emery's self-reliant, arrogant, and used to being liked and desired by others. They don't trust easily, and prefer to keep people at an emotional distance. Emery isn't above making decisions for their friends and loved ones either. They're overconfident, and it's going to screw them over eventually.
That said, Emery really does mean well- they may be prone to thinking they know best, but they're not as selfish as they may seem and they care more about people than they let on. There's a kind heart there, underneath the obnoxiousness.
